Zanzibar Island:

Zanzibar has a romantic, legendary and fascinating history, which emanates from a long interaction with many cultures. It was the arrival of the Shirazis, Omanis, Portuguese, and the British which exposed Zanzibar to the rest of the world. These were the first people to come to Zanzibar. This island is known for its long stretches of beach, rich Swahili culture and architecture and laid back, relaxed pace of life. Zanzibar hosts various beach hotels and resorts along its beaches as well as in Stone Town, the historic town which has several interesting places one could explore such as the Old Fort, Home of Wonders, Palace Museum, and Old Stone Market.

Jozani is the only remaining natural forest on Unguja Island. Covering an area of 10 sq km it consists of high forest, swamp forest and evergreen forest. It provides an important refuge for the remaining Ungula fauna such as the rare Red Colobus Monkeys, small Zanzibar Leopard and two antelope species - the Zanzibar Duiker and Suni.
